THE SHOES

Doesn't anyone even know this episode?? I am beginning to think that I dreamt it. RECAP: its the one where Elaine buys these black and white loafer type shoes, doesn't think that she likes them very much, suddenly gets tons o' comments on them, Jerry's ex-girlfriend decides she wants them in order to do Jerry a favor, and Elaine flips.. Since this episode Elaine wears them at least every other show ... Do you at least know the shoes????

Please tell me that I can in fact discriminate between dream state and prime time??

Yeah.. I remember this episode... Let's see....

Jerry's ex-girlfriend was the chef in the restaurant where the NBC exec frequents for lunch. The favour that Jerry asked of her was to give Jerry and George a call when she spots him in the restaurant. I think he had decided against doing their show-about-nothing, coz' he caught George staring at his teenage daughter's cleavage. But the chef-lady said she'd only do it, if Elaine gave her her new Bartecelli (or whatever) designer shoes.

Well... my question is... I thought Elaine DID give her those shoes. But now we see her wearing them every other episode. What gives? Did they explain how she got them back? Or was it that she never gave them up?

The episode I remember is that Jerry is dating this girl who compliments Elaine on her shoes. For some reason I can't remember, Elaine gets sensitive about her shoes (but then again, when did "Seinfeld" ever need a reason?). She finds out that the woman mentioned her shoes to someone else (who happened to work in her office?) and goes to J's girlfriend's place of work - which is a restaurant as the woman is a chef of some kind - and yells at her to stop talking about her shoes. She ends up sneezing on someone's plate of pasta, and that someone turns out to be the producer of Jerry's and George's pilot, and the producer-guy ends up getting sick. BTW, did I make it clear that it's Elaine who sneezes on the pasta?

Anyway, this is the first "shoe" episode that came to mind, and it matched closely with what you were talking about, but I could be wrong....

Lainey gets upset because the woman asks her where she bought them. It was a pricey store and the woman made some comment about that.

Well, this does sound familiar. I don't know the part about Jerry's ex-girlfriend, but Elaine not liking the shoes and receiving bunches of compliments certainly sound familiar.

The SHOES are from a shop called "Botticelli."

The girlfriend (of Jerry's) was a chef at a restaurant where Jerry and George were to meet an NBC exec (who later left NBC, because Elaine rejected him, joined Greenpeace and drowned while saving some whales).

Bob Balaban (the actor whho played the exec--Dalrimple?) is actually an actor/director. He was in Close Encounters...AND he was in Catch-22.

I humbly apologise if that last bit about Bob Balaban offends...I know that this is the SEINFELD place and therefore NO OTHER TOPIC should be allowed.
