Friends has promise to be one of the great what? Great big pieces of crap. Sorry but the buzz over friends is long over. Everyone now realizes it was all about how these people looked. The critics never liked it. The writing is fluff. Here's a musical equivilent to your post.

I like your analogy. Now the Drew Carey show succeeds by poking fun at itself without being pretentious. However, Oswald with Kate? NFW.
What about Ken Tucker ? Tucker does the tv reviews for the magazine, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY and he says that Friends is "a great comedy that has survived all the hype to transform into the best ensemble comedy on television and features great character development" and Tucker also said the show was better than Just Shoot Me (a show which the USA TODAY tv critic is saying should replace Seinfeld as) and Frasier (which is rumored to be replacing Frasier in the fall).
I don't think The Spice Girls will be remembered as one of the greats. They have good music and they'll be remembered but never as a great rock-and-roll band....they no longer make great rock-and-roll music, anymore, much less great rock-and-roll bands.

After Seinfeld goes off the air I will watch an episode I have recorded every Thursday night at 9:00 because I am sure that no show will be worth watching......but I DO watch other shows like "Frasier", "Caroline in the City", "Suddenly Susan" , "Jenny", and "Friends" so it's not like I won't have anything else to watch.-Rebecca

You never know if another show will be as good or better, but Seinfeld is the best right now in my book.
I can�t remember a show that had me laughing so much. I would expect the spinoffs or the copycats will fill the void with more of the same. I think I will watch the reruns, as I now do every night, for a long while.
Great writing, great comedy actors.
I think that Elaine is the least appreciated and would do well spinning off with Puddy. They could sustain something with George and Kramer and Newman making guest appearances.

Just found a show named "Cow and Chicken" on the Cartoon Network. HILARIOUS. Surreal humor. Not as tasteless as other "new" cartoons, but on the edge. More than slightly "askew".
