jerry was at yankees/mets game!

watching the yankees/mets game tonight on UPN 9 (new york station) and they showed jerry seinfeld in the stands! you'll never guess who he was sitting next to. Keith hernandez :)

And Jerry, great baseball (and specifically Mets) fan that he is, will throw out the first ball before today's game; Billy Crystal gets the honors Sunday night. (Rumor has it Seinfeld may join McCarver and Joe Buck in the Fox booth for an inning or so; he's done that in the past for a few Mets games on WWOR.)

... so Jerry and Keith were, what, taking a break from moving Keith's furniture? Or did they go back to Shea to see if Roger McDowell is still hiding on the "grassy knoll"? :)

But, to his credit, he threw FROM THE PITCHER'S MOUND instead of the
flat ground in front of the mound where most 'celebs who throw out first
pitches' like to stand.  But not Jerry.  he toed the rubber like he know
his way around.  I was a little impressed.  Maybe a complete wind up

Well, we know Jerry makes too much money to be signed by the Marlins or Expos...

I saw highlights of Bob Tewksbury pitching that way to Big Mac and it was hysterical! Yes, I think Jerry could get away with that pitch.

BH!! It's been slow in here lately.

But of course, as The Pen was aired in syndication Monday night! That is tied for my all-time favorite with The Boyfriend. I can never get enough baseball :)

The funny thing about that is that he went to the game with Keith Hernandez. On ESPN Sportcenter that night they opened with a picture of the two of them with the line, " Jerry Seinfeld and Keith Hernadez take in the Mets-Yankees game together....not that there's anything wrong with that."

Well, ya know Bob. Given the current state of Major League pitching, what with the 3 expansion teams and all, anyone who can get the ball anywhere NEAR the plate should be given a chance to make the team.

I love it when Seinfeld phrases creep into common language, but it's especially sweet to see a news or sports guy on TV do it.

I recall the good old days on ESPN's SportsCenter when Keith Olbermann used to say "No soup for you!" when a runner was thrown out at the plate.

Since I'm a SportsCenter junkie, one of the other anchors (Stuart Scott or Rich Eisen I think) would also say "No Soup For You!" to a batter when an outfielder made a spectacular play.

I'm surprised I haven't yet seen Elaine's "No soup for you. Next!" bit from the end of the soup episode used on ballpark video screens after a home team pitcher gets a strikeout...
