Is anyone here a Marine Biologist?

George _finally_ transcended his loser status when he admitted (with tears streaming from his face) that he was not a Marine Biologist. I was happy to see him finally tell the truth to someone he cared about. It could be a great turning point in his life. George as hero. I like it.

Of course, "she told me to 'go to hell!' and I took the bus home..."

What was odd about that episode was Jerry (!) lying to someone about George. I always thought he was the more rational one. Why did he do that? He must've known it would end in disaster. Spite?

In a previous article, [email] (SNYDER JOHN DAVID) says:

Naaaah. That's what real friends do for ya.

Saying George is doing really well: can't keep a job, drives women to lesbianism and now has a cool bedroom in his parent's place is truthful, but not exactly the kind of pick-up line advertised in the back of magazines.

I think the architect scenario though is a lot easier to play around with. Jerry just screwed up.

I can just see Kramer pretending to be a marine bioligist though...it would be a riot. Maybe they'd let him borrow that lab coat from the Pepsi commercial? Let him run loose at the Aquarium, swimming with the whales?

I was wondering about that too, why Jerry said George was a marine biologist. Could have been he knew that for any chance of relationship George had to have some occupation, and that was the one on his mind. But it did not seem that was his motivation... Maybe he figured that George and this woman would never get together...

What I found odd is that George got so upset about the lie. It sounds exactly like something George himself would have thought up. I agree with Jerry, this pretense is right up George's alley.
