George's fiance Susan

This might have been discussed already, so forgive me if the topic has been beaten to death: When the episode of Susan licking the stamps and dying happened, I thought it was weird, but then forgot about it during the summer. Now when I watch the reruns with her, I can't figure out why they killed her??? She was a good character, good "situation initiator" with her kind of bossy and annoyed attitude towards George. It helped her character. Of course I understand that George wouldn't be George if he married, but couldn't they find another way for the relationship to end, or break up temporarily, or something. This is so final. Anyway, this is one of the Seinfeld episodes I really can't figure out. Care to comment?

I think they killed her, so they could avoid breaking them up. George was shy and submissive to Susan, and I don't think he would have had the courage to break up with her. George never liked Susan after being engaged to her lost him a date with Marissa Tomei. They were looking for a way out of it, and decided to take the darker way.

True, they did do that. Ofcourse, they could have had Susan dump George....

You have to admit that the envelopes was a novel way to get rid of her!

FTR, I think Marissa Tomei is PHAT too.... (that is Pretty Hot And Tempting to you non acronym freaks out there..)

I think it was just a funny and totally unexpected way to end the season. And they could always bring her back in a dream sequence or something, or as another character. Didn't she play another character on Seinfeld before she was Susan?

Hmm....I don't know if she was another character on the show at some time. I missed the first four years of SEINFELD which I am trying to catch up on. Someone said that there was one actor who appeared in two different roles on the series...but I think this doesn't happen too often. Ofcourse, there could be another woman who looks just like Susan that George sees. Probably a long shot but.... Jennifer

I knew of three cases in which one actor has come back to play two different parts. 1) The actor who played Jake Jarmel also played one of the cops that gave Jerry and George a ride in L.A. 2) This may be incorrect(I have never checked the names) but it looks to me like the woman who played the cleaning woman who George had sex with at work also played the DMV worker who gave Kramer his ASSMAN plates. 3)There was another which I recently noticed but can't recall right now....any help?

I was always confused by the Susan Character.  What would an
intelligent sucessful woman like her see in the hyper emotive and none

My impression of the Susan Character was that she was the type who liked to call all the shots and "George" is a pretty passive guy who goes along for the ride because it takes less effort. That was a wierd ending for "Susan." I was surprised....never seen that type of exit for a character on a comedy series.

It was the only thing left. George tried postponing the wedding, bu that only bought him a few months. He tried to get out of it by smoking cigarettes, but just got sick. He tried to get Susan to sign a pre-nup thinking she would be offended. But, she just laughed at him and said OK. He was locked into a marraige he couldn't possibly go through with. The only way out was to kill Susan. If the envelopes hadn't done her in I'm afraid George may have had to get the dog hitman to take care of it for him.
