DVD AAAARGH!

Anyone else heard the news about a first season DVD!!!!

It's delayed due to JLD, MR & JA wanting more than $100k each for doing commentaries. The pay dispute happened in December, but they expect season one out Dec. 04... I wonder how many years after that it will be until all 9 season's are out...

$100,000 isn't enough for Julia? God damn them. So fucking selfish. Only thinking of themselves and not the fans. Just think how much work is involved for them and they are getting that much money. in the entire series that i found myself getting a bit "misty".   in 9
years, we never had a "heartwarming" episode. never a promo saying " ....
tonight, on a very special Seinfeld...."    or  ".... tonight, George and
Jerry face the most difficult decision of their lives....."   etc, etc.

the clips during the Green Day hit really brought it all home though, for me. 05-14-1998 was GREAT night!

I think you are overlooking the fact that if the 3 actors don't get the money, then someone will. Money is going to be made off of these DVDs...BIG money. This is big money besides the big money already being made from the syndication and future profits from a long run of future syndication. Unfortunately No ONE actor or writer/producer owns the rights to the show. I think it is Sony. Jerry has nothing to do with how much any other actor gets. They negotiate with the rights owners and that is Sony (I think). They make the BIG bucks off of syndication and DVD sales...Write a letter to them, better than yelling at Jerry. And trust me, sales will be no way impacted by whoever is providing commentary. I will buy them with or without it and so will everyone else...It ain't a deal breaker

All that says is he and Larry made more off of the selling to syndication. They neither have a say as to who gets the syndication rights, how often to air episodes, how long or much contracts are for. They just get a cut, since they created it. Same as with the DVD, they will get a cut, not some flat fee, like the others got for their roles on the show. Like I said, it aint Jerry or Larry's fault...

I don't know. Seinfeld may have sold rights to syndication, but I'm sure he held out for DVD profits.

After reading my own link a little more closely, I guess he didn't hold out for DVD profit. But my point was that they did speak and now Richards is in the commentary deal.

Seems Jerry has some interest.

That's fine, but he still has no rights to how the show is used, shown or profited off of. Royalties are nice, but saying what can be done with the material is another, and he doesn't have that right.
