Help Please

I was always wondering, what is mutton? I think its some kind of lamb dish I suppose but have never had it and was always kinda curious as to what it actually was even though I would probably order a salad over it.

In any case, I was chewing the fat with my butcher the other day, and here's what he had to say about lamb and sheep meat [1]:

"Baby lamb is customarily slaughtered at between 6 and 8 weeks old. Spring lamb is usually 3 to 5 months old (baby lamb and spring lamb are both milk fed). Regular lamb is slaughtered under a year of age. Lamb between 12 and 24 months is called yearling; when over 2 years, it's referred to as mutton and has a much stronger flavor and less tender flesh."

There is a good reason for it not being very popular. Jerry spits it out. Ive spat it out. Mutton is bloody disgusting. It tastes and smells bad. smells real bad. stinkaroo, thanks for the tickets though.

How did we get onto Mutton? I think it was mentioned because (as with most seinfeld quirks):

1: the name is funny 2: not too common 3: sound heavier than lamb 4: I miss lamb dinners - wafer thin lamb with gravy.... 5: they don't eat much lamb aroun dhere except easter, and then they spit roast a whole heard of them and munch the eyeballs.

6: I'll have the salad.
