Question🙁 Disliked it

Fans notice increased editing of Seinfeld episodes on cable syndication, particularly TBS, with entire scenes and lines being cut that affect plot coherence.

I watched the episode that night, I forget the name, but it's the one with the "red dot" on the sweater, and Elaine dates the alcoholic.

Anyway, as I'm watching the scene where Kramer drinks the scotch, so that Jerry and Elaine can smell him, THEY ELIMINATED A WHOLE SET OF LINES FORM KRAMER. It was the whole first sequence where we "does the commercial" for Hennigan's scotch. I distincting remember the line "...I just had 3 shots of Hennigan's, and I don;t even smell..." was cut out!!

Is anyone else noticing this? Is this a new syndication company or something? I also noticed on TBS the other night, at the end of the first part of the episode where Kramer sells the raincoats to the vintage clothing store, they edited much of the ending, where the store owner is burning Frank Costanza's clothes!!!

What is going on? Anyone know? Thanks!

My understanding is that there are _always_ cuts made for syndication. You could see it in M*A*S*H reruns 20 years ago.

It seems as though these are more editing than I have ever seen. It seems as if there's a new syndication company, or something? There's a Seinfeld graphic that flashes by toward the end of the episodes as well, before they show some sponsors. Ever since I've been seeing these, that's when I'm noticing the increased editing. But they're editing lines that make other lines make no sense!!!

The only way to recieve untouched shows is to capture them on the downlink en they send it to the studios via satellite.(one of the big old type dishes) I have many episodes of the simpsons in this format. Pure unadulterated, no adverts and not chopped up. But as they only do this with new shows, and there are no seinfeld dvd, were shit out of luck :(

I've noticed a new syndication company too. It used to be Columbia Tristar Distribution, but now it seems to be "Sony Pictures Distribution," or something like that. So they may very well have produced new edits of the episodes. I haven't seen many "Seinfeld" repeats this season, so I'm not sure.

I believe that Columbia Tristar is a division of Sony Pictures. Or at the very least, they're somehow connected--they're both in the same building(s) in Culver City, CA.
