Talented or not

I love the show, but I sometimes think that Jerry Seinfeld is a lousy actor...I mean he looks like he's about to laugh his head off all the time...what do you think ??

I agree with ya. If anyone in the bunch needs to bone up their acting skills, it is Jerry. He always has the slightest smile on his face, just as you say, as if he going to explode with laughter. The other three characters are absolutely the heart of this sitcom. :-)

If I'm not mistaken, I think they are talking about Jerry Seinfeld. I for one think that he is the best character in the show, followed by George, Kramer and finally Elaine.

Re Yvonne's note about the salaries paid the "Seinfeld" regulars. Jerry makes one million dollars per episode and the other three cast members make $600,000 per episode. The actor who plays "Newman" just this year has been given a raise and makes $50-$60,000 an episode...which I believe is alot for a guest star. He will appear in 9 episodes this season but is apparently in negotiations for various projects including a series of his own. Ofcourse, these salaries don't count what each actor makes in residuals everytime a show they are in is shown again on T.V.

Im sorry to say but that is what he is suppost to act like. The show is known for it's realism! Just like they go to the bathroom when they have to they lagh when something is funny HE IS SUPPOSED TO.

This isn't to say that those three aren't talented because there is NO question, they're fantastic. However, without Jerry, there is no way on earth this show would have lasted 8 seasons.

I agree... I just think the others are better. But Jerry IS essential to their success. It would be a dumb show without any of them.

Maybe NOT a talented actor, but, definitely a talented comedian. It's his name, his show -- that's why he gets the BIG BUCKS!!

Jerry is _not_ an actor. He's a comedian! And he's the best comedian in the world at that. That's why the tv company can afford those brilliant actors. And these actors can surf the fantastic waves Jerry and his writing team create. And wow, can they surf! And the contrast to Jerry's lack of talent as an actor gets obvious and apparent _because he makes these brilliant actors sparkle_. Admit it, folks: without Jerry, no show. I think he functions well within the show. "Seinfeld" is a bit like the original Fab Four, the Beatles. It's all about their chemistry.

This is a great string. The subject being talented or not. VERY TALENTED. Jerry is my favorite and he makes the others all work for me. I think that he and Julia L-D. have a wonderful chemistry and they've made it last for more than eight years!!! Now that's talent and hard work. And, I would never be able to enjoy Kramer's (Richard's) antics without Jerry as his buffer. And George...well it's George's show really.... I love it when I see Jerry cracking up, it just adds to the lunacy. I can understand his acting weakness, afterall he is playing himself which has been done before by actors, but never for eight years. Anyway, just wanted to say that Jerry has my vote for being the most talented and creative comedian of this decade.

Not to be rude or anything but are you #$%^*# crazy? Do you relize what your asking? Sienfeld is a terrific actor and a great comedian, I would like to see you keep a straight face with that script (Im not saying he didnot have one I would just like to see it)

I agree. He's got that silly little smirk on his face all of the time! But, all of the time the script is working up to a funny line.

Laughing at your own jokes doen't make the jokes less funny. In another sitcom, I think he might not fare as well.

But, is he talented? If you think he's talented, he's talented. Carol Burnett laughed right through many of her skits.

Personally, I like him better as a stand up comic, but what do I know?
