Fans discuss whether a scene in "The Cadillac (2)" references Hitchcock films, with debate over pineapple symbolism and whether other Seinfeld episodes contain film parodies like Taxi Driver.
My tape library is lacking. Does anyone else recall the five story glass faced building featured on the left of the Plaza Cable chase scene, just after they run past the dropped groceries (to include a pineapple) from either Psycho (when Alfred just misses the bus) or North by Northwest?
Interesting to note that (Hitchcock composer) Bernard Herrmann scored "Taxi Driver" too.

BTW Taxi Driver is parodied in The Maid. (the maid is Jodi Foster's character - the young prostitute and the owner of the maid service is a parody of Harvey Keitel's character, the pimp all this coupled with Kramer's fear and loathing of the inner-city )
I dunno about this one. It seems like the young prostitute + pimp storyline is a fairly universal concept, as is the fear and loathing of the inner city. I imagine one could see it as a reference to a large number of shows or films with similar themes. It'd be like claiming that "The Parking Garage" is a parody of "All the President's Men" simply because both contain scenes in a parking garage. (Okay, that's not a good analogy, but I can't think of a better one at the moment...)

But it is more than ONE scene in The maid - three specific tracts - the young prostitute, the tough pimp, the horrors of the city - all appearing together - all part of ther Taxi Driver subplots. And the Keitel scene in the doorway is a really similar scene. I watched Taxi Driver a few years ago and the first thing that popped into my mind was - The maid service guy from Seinfeld - I am sure Angela Featherstone was cast as Cindy the maid because she was a young - Jodi-Foster look alike.

But that isn't unique to Taxi Driver. All three of those combined are such a common storyline it's nearly a cliche. Watch any bad police TV show and you'll see plenty of the same. It's kinda' like the California detectives on the trail of Kramer--it's not a reference to a specific show like Dragnet, but rather just a universal archetype.
Now, if there was someone with a Mohawk doing the mirror scene, I'd definitely agree it's a Taxi Driver homage/parody.
Okay, I can see this one. :-) But I'm still not convinced that's it's a direct parody, however. If you see it and you're convinced, we'll just agree to disagree; no offense intended, I'm just stating my opinions.
No, I agree that's definitely a parody because it's a situation unique to Pulp Fiction: a man (with a nickname) called in to take care of a messy situation, pulls up fast in a sports car, makes specific demands for items, apologizes for curtness and explains it's due to a shortage of time, etc.

i also read that the shower head purchase scene in [The Shower Head] was supposed to be a Taxi Driver reference to a gun purchase scene. any thoughts on that? (i wouldn't know)
