Can anyone tell me who played George's father first? I have not seen any episodes in syndication that show the actor who played his father first! I know that I didn't imagine this!!!!

You didn't imagine it. As others have said, John Randolf played Frank Costanza in "The Handicap Spot" episode. What the others did not say, was that Jerry Stiller has played Frank Costanza since then, and in the syndicated episode of "The Handicap Spot" they reshot the scenes with Jerry Stiller playing Frank Costanza.
