According to Elaine it was something like KL5-2390. What the heck is "KL" supposed to mean? If it's 555, why don't they say 555? I've seen KL5 used in other TV-phone numbers too. Is it some sort of code? Been wondering this forever.

Back in the 50's and early 60's, phone numbers were listed like that. for example my phone number was Fleetwood3-0359. The numbers cooresponded to the first two letters. Have you ever hear the song "Beachwood4-5789" ? That phone number is actually 234-5789.

I didn't ask the question, I answered that I thought it stood for KLondike. My phone number was CLearbrook 9 -3103. I still remember my aunt's number in Philly as PIlgrim 5-XXXX (she still has the same number). I liked them better that way.
