I'm assuming we all have seen the classic episode in which George gets caught peeing in the shower at the Y, right? So this has me thinking and wondering just how many people have actually done that?
As a non-scientific poll, I ask the good people here if anyone here has ever urinated in a public, or for that matter a private, shower.
You need not worry; I will not send the "pee-police" after you if you confess to having done so. :)
Of course I would be a hypocrite if I were to ask the question and not answer it myself. Yes, I admit to having done so on one occasion. I was showering after gym class in high school and couldn't hold it in long enough to finish my shower and go in the bathroom. If it's any consolation, I aimed it directly into the drain on the floor, and the water from the high-pressure nozzle flushed it down immediately.
Now that we're on this subject, a couple of points should be made. First of all, you may recall that Eileen points out that "different pipes go to different places". While that is true, and I am certainly no expert on urban sewage pipes systems, I highly doubt that the pipe that carries waste water from a public shower will carry water directly to someone's home faucet. Most likely it is taken right to the same water treatment plant that bathroom waste water is taken to. I believe Eileen's fears are somewhat misguided.
The second and final point I would like to make is about urine itself. I remember learning in I think it was 7th grade health class, that the basic chemical structure of persperation is actually very similar to that of urine. Perhaps if we happen to have a doctor or medical lab technician among us, you can tell us if this is true or not? Remember sweat is washed off of a person's skin and into the drain during a shower, so how is that any different from peeing in the shower, if in fact perspiration and urine are more or less the same thing?
I am in no way trying to advocate urinating in the shower, and generally would not recommend anyone do so. At the same time however, I see no reason to go overboard if I do see someone doing it.
