George's Father's Shoes

RE: ONE OF THE BEST LINES ON SEINFELD

On "The Phone Message" episode, George devises a plan to switch the phone-machine tape out of his new girlfriends answering machine. Reason: George thought that the woman was not calling him back because he had mistakenly turned down sex. So he leaves angry messages on her machine based on the assumption that she is snubbing him. However, George soon finds out that the reason that she isn't calling him back is that she was out of town for a few days. George must now, with Jerry's help, remove the incriminating tape from her answering machine. Situation: With Jerry, George meets his girlfriend outside of her appartment building. George manages to convince her to go up to her appartment so that Jerry can make the switch, while he (George) keeps her occupied. He annonces to her that he must tell her something very important, and with that, they leave the room. Upon returning from the other room, George's girlfriend says:

     "That's what you had to tell me?  That your father wears
      his sneakers in the pool?"

I love that episode with the answering machine. Especially when George gets flustered and yells the signal "Tipitoe" out to Jerry. By the way what was the orginal signal they had decided on when they were outside the apartment building?
