Error on 4/9/98 episode

Last night I noticed this incongruence and thought I pointed out here to see if anyone else caught it.

When Kramer let go of the pull car (forgot the name) with Newman in it and it rolls back down the hilly street. Two things: First, There is not ONE street inclined at that angle in the bowery are, the whole city for that matter. New York is pretty much FLAT.

Second: When Kramer is looking at Newman going down, a yellow cab with a white roof passes by. There are no yellow cabs with white rooftops in NY. They're painted completely yellow

I know the show is filmed in LA but wanted to point those out anyway.

AHHH!!!! Who cares?!?!?! Let it go!! It was funny!! Why does everyone have to rip everything apart, as if the writers are stupid or something?? Do we do that about other shows? No. Because we don't expect so much out of others. I think that you do this because you want to find flaws in an otherwise perfect comedy. Name one show on television that is consistently funnier than Seinfeld. Please.

You can't. The only reason why everyone picks apart Seinfeld because some people don't like things that are so good. Take the Yankees. Everyone knows that they're the greatest baseball team ever, but baseball fans won't stop nitpicking whatever they do, they won against the A's yesterday, but all the anti-Yankees remember is that they gave up 13 runs. Its just like Seinfeld, everyone knows that "The Bookstore" was funnier than anything else that week, but all the anti-Seinfeld's can remember is that there are no hills in New York.

I don't think pointing out continuity (or production) errors necessarily means they're raking the show over the coals. Personally, I think it's fun to look for inconsistencies like that. And I certainly wouldn't look for them in a show that I couldn't watch more than once!

I mean, if you have a favorite tv show or film, you just eventually start seeing stuff like that with repeated viewings, or a knowledge of a show's style. It's not something you're belittling about the show. Rather, it just shows that it affects you that much more than other shows you may watch and that you really pay attention to detail on it.

I don't think anyone was slamming the episode at all.

But he knows about other episodes and compares them. This is not someone who doesn't like the show. This guy obviously watches the show a lot and expects a lot from it. That's not a bad thing. It's a shame for him, because he's always gonna be expecting each show to be the best. And, as the rest of us in reality know, it's not gonna happen. Some shows are better than others.

After re-reading the comment, it also sounds like he may be trolling just a little bit, too.

yea, that was THE worst attempt of making it look like nyc. it was so damn obvious it wasn't nyc it was pathetic. such shoddy production values. i hope they don't use any la locations in future episodes. the only time it really worked was when kramer went to la and was a suspect in a murder.

I noticed this as well. That had to be one of the worst attempts at a New York street I've ever seen. Usually the show does a pretty good job, in my opinion.

Actually that is not true. If you ever venture uptown around Washington Heights you will see that Manhattan is not pretty much flat. There are also streets around West End Ave. That are far from flat.
