Is Elaine's mother dead? In "The Jacket" episode her mother is alive, but in "The Gum", Elaine says that the button she lost "was her mother's". I can't recall any reference to her mother dying in between those episodes. Can anyone help me with this?

Just because the buttons belonged to her mother doesn't mean her mother is dead. My mother's given me clothing items/jewelry and she isn't dead.
Elaine's father was in episode 8, The Jacket. Jerry and Elaine meet her father for dinner. He plays a novelist. It aired on 2/6/91. Jon B.
