I just viewed what must have been one of the first episodes: Kramer had his hair styled, George had more hair, Jerry had a much nicer apartment (in my opinion), and there was no mention of Elaine - nor was Julia listed in the credits. In what episode or season did all of this change? (with the exception of George's hair, which was just a matter of time.)

IIRC that was the one when Jerry had that girl over his house from out of town? That was the first episode. George's hair never came back for a repeat run though, and there was no 'lainie either.

Also re-watching these episodes on Paramount in the UK who have just gone back to the pilot and series 1. I've seen these episodes many times but never realised how "bad" they were compared to later seasons. By "The Pony Remark" though (Season 2) I think the gang were almost in full flow. When I say "bad" BTW I mean not as good as the other stuff and by no means bad when compared to other so-called comedy Discuss.

They were a little bleak. There was usually just one or two plotlines and those usually weren't interlinked together, like in the latter episodes. Still, characters were in a developing stage and plots were (I'm just guessing here) probably Larry's and Jerry's first ideas for the show and ergo, kind of onetrack minded (reminds me of one "butler story").
