As George once said: "He [Kramer] falls ass-backwards into money..."

I think George was referring to his many business ventures. Also, I recall something about him hitting a longshot trifecta at the track, hence the gambliing problem that has been referred to many times.

That's part of the mystery, the aura, the "kavorka" of Kramer. But seriously (if you can be serious about a sitcom), Kramer seems to jump from deal to deal--promoting a Jewish singles event, make your-own-pizza, return deposit scams, etc. Jeff Laderman

Hey people!!! this is the 90s!!! does anyone here have a problem with Kramer being an entrepreneur??? How trumpish!!!

DavePaul52751

The only problem is that very few of his business ventures ever pan out. What of the 'roll-out tie dispenser'? Or the 'peanut butter and jelly only restaurant called PB&J's'? Or the pizza place where you make your own pizza? Yada yada yada.

BTW, it's not 'trumpish', it's 'trumpet' though, to be honest, I believe it was a saxophone. [email] (Hammer nail here--> <-- for a new monitor.)

And don't forget Jerry's dad and his raincoats!!!!

Since Kramer has been on strike from the bagel store for 12 years, perhaps he has been living off strike pay for that whole time? Strike pay is peanuts, but since his apartment is rent controlled, mooches off Jerry, etc. but he must have enough cash to go shopping (like that specialty produce place where he got banned from).

He also gets free coffee

I always thought he made money from when he thought of the coffee table magazine that's made for coffee table, and it it's self folds out into a coffee table. And also from the underwear ad he did for Calvin Klien.

Somebody speculated once that he was left some money by a relative. And its obvious he has a rent-control apartment.

No trust fund. Kramer's various entrepreneurial ventures have helped
him earn enough money to support himself. The Coffee Table book,
modelling underwear for Calvin Klein, in "The Subway", he got a tip
on a horse race and bet $600 on a 30-1 longshot; he won $18,000.
In "The Dinner Party", he tells George he doesn't carry a wallet anymore,
his osteopath says it's bad for his spine. Keep in mind that Kramer has
very few living expenses. His apartment is rent controlled, he gets
most of his food at Jerry's, and he wears vintage clothing.

He's probably still collecting royalties from his books "World's Best Shipwrecks" and "World's Best Bear Attacks".

Kramer never wrote these, did he? I recall a previous post about this and I recall the Andrea Dorea episode, but it never implied that Kramer was the author.

You are correct. The only book Kramer ever wrote was the Coffee Table book. [email] (Hammer nail here--> <-- for a new monitor.)

In the movie "Mother", Brooks mentions "The Coffee Table Book". I guess Albert Brooks is a fan of "Seinfeld".

In one episode didn't Jerry or George comment that they'd like to be like Kramer and "fall into money?" That is not an exact quote and I don't remember which episode. Could it be that Kramer does have some sort of trust fund?

No, no trust fund. Jerry and George discussed that Kramer always seems to "fall ass backwards into money." Which means he always lucks out on his wild schemes: bets, coffee table book, etc.

In "The Old Man" Kramer and Newman sell old records. Those two also had a scheme that went awry in "The Bottle Deposit".
