Where to get Seinfeld episodes (free or buy) GUIDE

There are only two "sure" ways to get'em: IRC or one of many peer-to-peer software sharing "networks" based on gnutella. Possibly you may find some websites or FTP servers full of Seinfeld goodies, but usually websites loaded with episodes disappear very fast; and private ftp servers go offline whenever owner shuts off his computer, also many of them won't let you log in without obtaining password and user account.

WEBSITES: http://episodesforall.cjb.net is one of the most reliable websites out there, but it doesn't carry all episodes, and all of them are low quality divx files.

FTPs: ftp://195.250.160.75/incomingz/epl/toimetus/Kultuur/ ftp://kel:[email]/ ftp://[email]/ there are more, but these 3 I've check within last few days and they were working. If they don't work anymore - don't blame me, I don't run this servers :-D

IRC: Get any IRC software (i.e. free 30-day trial mIRC at www.mirc.com) then login to EFNet server or DALNet server, channel #Seinfeld (Read your irc software's manual how to do so, don't post dumb questions here pls). Currently on EFnet there are *mostly* VCD-compliant MPEG-1 episodes (approx 150-220MB each, but some are so-so quality anyway, like they were made off divx or somethin), while on DALnet's Seinfeld channel you'll find mostly AVI episodes compressed with DivX;-) codec (30-60MB ea, small but horrible quality).

P2P "NETWORKS" (Peer-To-Peer "Networks") Download and install any of the free programs using gnutella "network": BearShare (www.bearshare.com) or iMesh (www.imesh.com). RTFM (read the f*** manual) how to set it up, then connect/logon to appropriate "network" (it is not really any network - thats why I use this word in a brackets) and in SEARCH just type "seinfeld.mpg" or "seinfeld.avi" (without the brackets). You may specify desired connection speed and other specs, but its not neccessary to find episodes. Currently there are all (I think - I haven't count) episodes in divx and about half of them in mpeg available on gnut networks (I checked with BearShare and T1 connection; your results may vary depends on your connections).

2. TRADING or BUYING EPISODES

Just search this newsgroup for word like "trade" or "sell/buy". There is at least 4 separate individuals (including me :) who claim to have all 180 Seinfeld episodes on various formats, like real media, mpeg, VHS cassettes and VCD discs. Some traders (excluding me :) use various nicknames and addresses to attract more people and get rid of "bad reputation" following them; thats why you may find about 16 "different" people advertising their Seinfeld Collections in here in past year (actually I searched only half a year back).

Before You decide to trade (or buy) with anyone you should have ask for references - and check them. Some people have very bad quality episodes that may disappoint you (its always good idea to ask for samples).

Since I am trading VCD discs - here's few words about'em. My Video Compact Discs (VCD) Standard 2.0 discs are playable on any stand-alone dvd-player that reads CD-R discs (thats the kind of discs I am making it on). *Any* dvd-player can read factory-made VCD discs, but some just can't read VCD discs made/copied on CD-R discs (usually due to cheap laser reader). Also any computer CD-ROM or DVD-ROM *can* read CD-R based VCD discs, but if you want to watch episodes on your huge monitor instead of TV screen (from dvd-player), than you might as well download them for free using one of above described ways, right?

Some people refer to their discs with mpeg-1 or even DivX files burned on CD-R as "Video CD" or "VCD". It is misleading, and this kind of discs (not mastered using special VCD authoring software) while may play on *some* dvd-players (if compliant mpeg-1 files were used and your dvd-player actually can read them) they are *not* real VCD discs. VCD discs provide at their best quality VHS-alike picture quality and surround sound; divx or mpeg discs contain files that are often made at different frame size, frame rate and bitrate not compatible with your tv screen, and they are best suitable for computer use only.

There are also quite a few Hotline servers with episodes. To search HL go to http://hotlinehq.com/search.html BTW - episodes4all.cjb.net has a list of FTP servers that work.

If you've got kazaa or Morpheus, you can get all the episodes.

I've also placed the Seinfeld bloopers video in my shared folder so you can get that too.
