Fans debate Jerry's resistance to kiss-hello greetings, finding his discomfort funny and relatable, particularly Kramer's unexpected kiss and Elaine's suggestive comment about it.
So what is Jerry's problem with kissing hello? All he has to do is stand there and be kissed! The "because the minute you see someone you know you have to do it" argument doesn't hold much water, because again he's not really doing anything, just receiving. I thought Elaine's comment, "Would an intercourse hello [interest you at all]" (can't remember exactly how see said it) was very funny. And Cosmo planting one on Jerry! A scream!

It's like being kissed or pinched on the cheek by a out of touch with reality aunt/grandma/grandpa/etc. It's one of those things which doesn't kill you but is so annoying. I don't think it's really as horrible as Jerry makes it out but this show focuses on the little things and this certainly is one of them. When Jerry is around friends like Elaine, there is no need for a hello kiss. That's the way it should be, or at least how Jerry sees it. When you see someone, can't you just say hi and be done with the greetings? Why is it so imperative that there be a hello kiss when a "hi ,how you doing" is enough. I imagine in real life, Jerry Seinfeld feels this way too since he wrote part of this episode and the delicate genius part has got to be Larry David's scripting.

I have people ask me 'how are you?' 5 times a day when they see me and I know they are not expecting an answer from me. They would be very stupid if they do.
