Here's another idea ...

Jerry wakes up in bed. He appears disoriented. He says aloud, "that is the strangest and longest dream I've ever had."

A form under the covers stirs beside him, and a woman's voice says sleepily, "what dream?"

"I dreamed I lived in New York and had all these weird friends."

"Well," says the still unseen woman, "what happened?"

Jerry seems baffled, "Nothing happened. Absolutely nothing. Just years and years of nothing!"

The woman turns on the table lamp. Suzanne Pleshett sighs, "Bob, your starting to sound like your patients! The only weird friend you have is Howard. All I know is that you're in good old Chicago. Now go back to sleep."

"But it seemed so real," Jerry whined. Emily turns off the light. Jerry sighs.

"Bob?" asks Emily, "you weren't, by any chance, married to a blonde were you?"

Exit music Bob Newhart music done Seinfeld style - "home, home to my Emily, Chicago cold, that don't bother me......."

Some other input on the final episode...

A. Robert Goulet (or Dick Van Dyke or Lee Majors) guest stars as the real "Art Vandelay" who was once an architect but then became a marine biologist.

B. George goes back to the beach and is once again summoned to help a beached whale...only to find that Russell Dalyrimple's (former NBC exec and Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior) decaying carcass is lodged in the whale's throat.

C. Newman's full name is indeed revealed to be "Tiny Shirley Norman Newman"

D. Kramerica expands it's business horzions by taking over the entire apartment building, successfully building a usuable time machine which allows Cosmo to go back in time and REALLY host the Mike Douglas show.

and of course the best idea for the final episode is when...

E. nothing happens. absolutely nothins. a complete half-hour of total nothingness.

Sounds way too much like a Twilight Zone episode. What about the comedy that is so much a part of "Seinfeld"? Surely that has to play a part in the final show?

This is a wonderful idea, especially since it will separate Jerry Seinfeld (standup comedian) from Jerry Seinfeld (sitcom character). It's like a thought I had a long time ago for the final episode of Murphy Brown: FYI is canceled, but Murphy lands a job hosting a Charlie Rose-type interview show. Her first guest appears in the final scene: it's Candice Bergen! ("Tell me, Candy, what have you been up to all these years...")

Jerry gets a role as a wacky neighbor on a sitcom and isnt sure if he should take it because it would mean moving to LA. Kramer burns down the apartment building by accident Jerry unable to find a new apartment shacks up with George and then Elanie and Puddy and they drive him insane so he takes the role in the sitcom and moves to LA. Since Elanie, George and Kramer have know where to met because Jerry is gone never see each other again. Final scene of the show have Jerry busting through a door Kramer style and then the shows over.

First, how are they going to stretch this to fill an entire hour? Second, how will they explain the 10 year reunion (it's already being planned on). Third, would Kramer still be Kramer as a total stranger, or would he be a completely normal person who Jerry's mind made into a "hipster-doofus?" Would Jerry's apartment still be the same? If so, who would live across the hall? How about Phil, the one guy he actually didn't know!

Newhart does bring to mind a pretty neat idea though. Have Bob and Emily wake up in bed and have it be one of Bob's dreams. Now that would be something totally unexpected.

And judging from the tidal wave of posts in THAT ng, fans of the show HATED it. I'm sure Jerry has too much creativity and loyalty to his fans to lay a stinker like that on us.
