Last week, in "The Summer of George" the episode begins with George having been fired from the Yankees. However, I don't remember anything about it in a previous episode. Does anyone know why he got fired? Didn't Mr. Wilhelm take the rap to save George and take a job with the Mets? (Who, BTW, play in a REAL leauge w/o a wimpy DH rule)

George wasn't fired, he just got something like 3 months off from work. I forget the reason, it was either vacation he earned or Steinbrenner forcing it upon him because he thought Georgie Boy needed a break

NO, George made up a story about working for Tyler Chicken out in the mid-west when he was pretending to be a tourist. At the end of the "Muffin Tops" episode, Steinbrener finds out about this and believes that he's been doing BOTH jobs, so he calls Tyler Chicken and they fight over who gets to keep him (the guy from Tyler says he has no idea who he is, but if Steinbrener wants him so bad, he wants him, too). In the end, Steinbrener trades George to Tyler in exchange for getting exclusive rights to carry Tyler Chicken products in all the concession stands (or something like that). In the Summer of George, he got severance pay for 3 months. So, George wasn't actually fired, but he doesn't work for the Yankees anymore.

George found this girl who was a tour guide and pretended to be a tourist in order to keep her interested. He told her he worked for this chicken place and he was just visiting NY. Well he wanted to continue going out with her so he told her he was going to move to NY. She said he would never make it in NY. Well anyway, he pretended to move into his own apartment and he told her he got a job with the Yankees. She went to his work to visit him and his boss came in the room while she was there and she made the mistake of saying how George worked for Tyler's Chicken. So his boss calls Tyler Chicken and trades him off for Tyler chicken products. That is how he lost his job. Buy the Yankees gave him three months severance's pay so that is how the "Summer of George" came into existence. Sorry I was so long winded. [email]
