In the Jan. 2 episode, Seinfeld is asked to use a camcorder to pirate an artsy film named "Cry Cry Again". As has been the case with art films in other episodes, this film is supposed to be showing at the Art Greenwich.
Those "Seinfeld" writers have been in the California sun too long. The Art Greenwich hasn't shown art films for years. (This week it's showing "Turbulence" and "Beavis and Butthead Do America".) The artsy downtown theaters now are the Film Forum, the Anthology Film Archives, and, sometimes, the Angelika. The name "Art Greenwich" might evoke an image of an artsy Greenwich Village movie house, but the dressed-in-black art crowd hasn't been seen there in years.
Also, that reference at the end to the movie "Sunset Boulevard" is cliche. It's been done. A lot.
