I figured they probably pre-taped it and weren't even aware of it...I think NBC decided to do that black out thing at the last minute...trying to improve rating for the new shows or something.

But why the fuck would they need to? I mean, ABC's only competition is Roseanne, Home Improvement and Grace Under Fire...CBS is fucking hopeless and will no doubt soon be passed by the fucking PARAMOUNT network when it gets up and running... :)

So why the hell do they need a gimmick??? (Methinks either Seinfeld's writers prewrote it, never had a blackout episode conveniently prewritten, or thought the idea of a blackout night too damn hokey to deal with... :)

ONLY Roseanne and Home Improvement? Those are two of the highest-rated shows in the country!

Because NBC has been stuck just a few points ahead of FOX for like, 3 or 4 years (ever since they cancelled all their top ten shows so tey could put 90210 clones on...bad decision <G>)...and without Frasier and Wings on on Thursdays anymore, they probably just wanted to keep people interested the entire night, and not just check out after Mad About You.

I doubt it...most of the shows on Thursday now are relatives of Seinfeld in some way or another (not just the same network <G>)...I think if they had had time to go along with it, they probably would have...I think they've probably pretaped most of the season because the entire cast has movie deals out the boody hole.

I was watching a "extra" entertainment blurb on TV after a program about the "Blackout". The executives (whatever they are called - the head huchos) had everyone come together to a meeting and told everyone about the blackout INCLUDING Jerry and company. Jerry didn't like the idea and refuse to go along with it so therefore, the light came on just in time for Seinfeld and back down again for Madman of the People.
