A fan is selling a photocopied table draft script of "The Apology" for $5 including shipping, prompting debate about monetizing fan transcriptions versus sharing scripts freely online.

It warms my heart to know that at a time where some of us are transcribing episodes for others to read for free, there is someone willing to repeatedly pocket a few dollars for selling the same script over and over.

That's one way of looking at it. The other would be that someone might be curious to compare the two versions, or even that this would have saved someone countless hours watching Seinfeld a minute at a time, pausing the VCR and then typing. I guess it depends what your time is worth. Of course, I'm making an enormous profit, considering I'm paying for shipping, the paper it's copied on, and the brads to bind it.
I guess there's at least two different kinds of people in the world. One that would post something to a website and let other fans read it for free, and one that would request a few bucks from each person who was interested. If you need the cash, then more power to you. At least you told everyone it's a copy and you didn't misrepresent it as an actual shooting script. Ebay's full of scammers like that.
