Fans debate their picks for the five best sitcoms of all time, with Seinfeld appearing on multiple lists alongside classics like M*A*S*H, The Honeymooners, and Cheers.
Please when following up on this thread, people, it is the FIVE best sitcoms of all time. Not six or seven or nine like I saw on one post, but FIVE. It kinda defeats the point to list just about every sitcom ever made.
By the way, the five best sitcoms of all time are:
1: M*A*S*H* 2: Seinfeld 3: All in the Family 4: The Simpsons 5: Umm....well maybe there are only four.
I really wish I could see WKRP in Cinncinatti(sp?) again, I forgot how good it was!
So... 4 is OK, just not 6 or 7?!? That makes sense.
Anyway, my FIVE would all be more recent than most of the ones Ive seen listed here by others:

I'd like to list THE SIMPSONS, but I believe that to be classified as a sit-com, a show must have a certain amount of realism to it. Albeit, often there may be one or two 'wacky' things to accept. For example, to accept Gilligan's Island, one must accept that there is an uncharted island out there. While I am greatly amused with Seinfeld, only one episode ever really had me rolling on the floor with laughter, with tears coming out of my eyes - The Marine Biologist. By the way, does anyone know where I can get a copy of this on videotape? My biggest Seinfeld 'irk' is the the repetition of phrases. Some find this funny. I think it loses its charm after a while. AFTER a while. After a WHILE. After AY while.
Okay...end of thoughts.

I'm a BIG WKRP fan, and I've caught it on E! Entertainment TV in the early weekday mornings. It's great to see it again, although I can rarely get up early enough to see it (I think it's on at 7 a.m.). Anyone have any other info?

IMO, I still think Cheers has to be added to the five best sitcoms.
You cannot mean ALL TIME when you include only recent sitcoms. You have to go back to the 50's and include I Love Lucy. If you were not there then you cannot understand the impact it had on all other sitcomes. It paved the way and was great at the time.

They all set new limits, paved new ground, and were ingeniously original, the writing was excellent, characters were developed deeply as real people, they had something to say. (well maybe not 1 and 2 and 4)
