Fans discuss what Jerry meant about eating soup at work being embarrassing, with theories about Cup-A-Soup being inferior and soup not being a proper meal.
Elaine gets caught by the Sidler singing Hakuna Matada (sp?) and eating a cup of soup. As Jerry and Elaine are about to enter Jerry's apartment, Jerry's says something like "And the embarassing thing about a cup of soup is...", (not sure of the exact line), then he gets interrupted.
So, what's embarassing about eating a cup of soup at work?

My guess is that the cup of soup wasn't what was embarrassing, it was the fact that it was Cup-A-Soup (by Lipton is it?). Freeze dried soup in a bag is no way to eat soup.

Ok, I thought it was like a regular can of soup like Campbell's or something. The new stew ones are pretty good.
The Cup-A-Soup kind is pretty bad, maybe one step above ramen.

The "cup" word there is not just a name it is also a hint to the procedure, or M O if you like. And if you add some hot water to it before the actual eating it not only becomes easier to swallow you are also less likely to make you sneeze in the bag and get all dustyfaced.
