On the yesterday's rerun on NBC, I overheard a conversation between Jerry and George on how to get out of a Turkish prison. I don't know why they put such a phrase in the middle of the show. Could someone summarize the conversation and relate it to the situation. Otherwise, this will reverse my appreciation of this show.

Jerry was trying to figure out what it would take to get George to reveal his bank card password. He ask George if he would reveal it if he were in a Turkish prison and it was the only way to get out.
Why did he use a Turkish prison as a scenario? Probably because Turkish prisons have a reputation (in America) for being really horrible places to be. You will occasionally hear references to Turkish prisons in American pop culture.

I believe that there is some movie in which poor innocent Americans got tossed unfairly into a Turkish prison, and were treated awfully, tortured or something. That seems to be the foundation - otherwise why pick Turkish prisons in particular?

Yes, but why must you pick on the greeks? If someone can't explain this to me I will change my opinion of this newsgroup. ;) I don't understand what is the point of attempting to defend the integrity of any prison. The worse the prison the less the crime rate. If you don't like the reputation your prison gets from the outside world, then change it.
