Obviously, someone posts something like this in this particular news group to get people in an uproar and start a flame war.

Home Improvement is a pathetic, pathetic show. It gets most of its laughs by playing on tired male-female stereotypes (something Seinfeld likes to put twists on -- remember the "Mimbo" episode?) and just plain LAME kid's jokes. I'm not saying that Seinfeld is the best show ever made, but at its absolute best I've laughed more at tiny little jokes than at a WHOLE episode of Home Improvement. Tim Allen can take his power tools and...

I think these examples clearly show that Jerry isn't good with kids. Not on purpose, just that he makes mistakes like those. That's part of the humor. He's so much like a kid himself, and he just doesn't think when he does talk to a kid.

Both shows are funny in their own way. I love Tim Allen, but a lot of the supporting cast (mainly the children) annoy me at times, whereas I've grown to love all the characters in Seinfeld (even all the one-shot extras... they really know how to pick em). I watch both shows a lot, but I do think that Jerry wouldn't be half as funny without the marvelous trio he shares the stage with. Hmm... that kinda reminds me that I HAVEN'T been watching HI that much... is Lisa still on there? She's cute.

Just an opinion, I suppose. Not backed up with any information is a no-no when criticizing another work, but I suppose it's better to argue intelligently than criticize someone else for liking another show. I've had BAD experiences in Star Trek and Amiga echos, and this one seems to have the flavor that I'm looking for. I feel very at home here even though this is my first day in here.

Haha, that was a pretty daring episode, but not any worse (and in fact, it was a lot better than) than edited-for-TV movies. That was kinda like the episode where everyone wants their keys back (i.e.: George: "Maybe because it's a crock of sh...", Elaine: "Probably because it's complete BULLsh...", etc.). My favorite one from the frozen yogurt episode was when Jerry says, "What the **** are you doing you little piece of ****?!" and then Elaine and George are going off in the kitchen...

Too true. That's the whole concept behind his character and it worked great in that particular episode.
