Jerry on NBC 75th celebration

 If anyone had a chance (and had over 3 hours to kill) to watch NBC's 75th Ann.
Celebration last night (Sunday, May 5th) there was SOME Seinfeld sitings for
fans. Jerry actually opened the show (a great honor I guess considering all the
tv greats present) with a nice monologe. The clip concerning the rent-a-car was
shown.
   The most disturbing fact was that no other members of the Seinfeld show were
present or atleast shown. This seemed  unususal since LA Law, Cheers,
Hillstreet Blues, Cosby Show and even FRIENDS had almost the entire cast
reunion on stage during the show.
   I wonder if there are any hard feelings from some of the other cast members
(especially Julia and Micheal) concerning their failed projects on NBC.
   All in all it seemed sad that the cast did appear together like the other
"Must See" shows escpecially after being picked best sitcom ever by TV Guide
just a few short weeks ago.
   Jerry looked and sounded the same except for his flat hair. I guess he has
fallen victim to "low flow "shower heads again.

It was a ballsy monologue! JS went for the jugular with some very saucy, pointed remarks about the self-aggrandizing idea of a 75th Celebration. Very quickly he threw this zinger out with his krinkled smile: "Everyone out there should know that this was OUR idea ... no one called us up and said, 'Hey, did you realize it's your 75th, I'm guessing you want to do something? ...' and THEN he hit'em with, "Keep in mind that ninety-eight percent of the people you will see celebrated tonight were cancelled. These people were fired." Great monologue. As to the absence of the co-stars, I am going to guess they were invited but declined, probably out of embarrassment. They all tried shows and failed. Or is this claim similar to how you insisted the Seinfeld DVD's would be released by Castle Rock in April 2002, and that you already had advanced copies last summer?

Real story? They did get on well while they were doing the show, they still do although they don't see a lot of each other these days. They have a reunion dinner in LA every year around the April anniversary of the finale's taping in 1998. But each of them has his/her own life (all 4 now have children; although Richards' daughter is now an adult, the other 3 have kids still at home and either in diapers or in school). Michael, Jason and Julia live in the LA area. Jerry lives 3000 miles east of the rest of them, in NYC.

The show ended because when decision time came along in December of 1997 for the 1998-99 season, of the four, only Michael Richards wanted to go on. The rest thought it was time to pack it in.
