With thanks and apologies to '[email],' who wrote elsewhere these excellent comments on netiquette that, IMHO, would also benefit the Seinfeld newsgroup. It is long, but everything Ms.Gibbs says is relevant, ESPECIALLY the part about TROLLS (#7).

Interjecting a small point on print color. When responding to a post, make it clear who wrote what by using this symbol > located over the . on the keyboard.

In addition, for people that want a completely moderated group (read 'do it my way or no way') they need only go to Compuserve, where the television forums are extensive, very civilized, much fun and informative. You will not find 80% of the messages cross-posted to alt.sex groups etc, and in general will have to practice you communicating skills, because calling someone an idiot outright is a no-no.
The usenet will never be a CIS forum. I really wish folks would quit trying to make it that.

p.s. My newreader even flags me if > 80% of my message appears to be quoted material, warning that this is often thought of as "inconsiderate", or "bad netiquette".

I'm with Dave on this one. Some of us have browsers that won't do what they are told. But the sophisticated among us can speed through the process effortlessly. I do agree that snipping should be judicious and forethought. It might come back to haunt you. Frank
