Diet Pepsi ad rips off "The Wait Out"

Kramer wears tight-fitting jeans and has trouble getting them off in "The Wait Out" ep (May 1996). A current commercial for Diet Pepsi shows an office-worker guy attempting to recapture his youth by wearing the same kind of jeans to work, while Foreigner's "Hot Blooded" plays in the background. At one point we even see the guy's wife pulling on the legs of the jeans in a futile effort to get them off. Now where have I seen this before...?

Yep, complete rip off. As soon as I saw the commercial I said to my wife, "Kramer did it better".

To be fair, that sort of gag has most likely been done a least a few times before Kramer did it. I would bet though, as with the most recent commercial, that Kramer's take on it would be the best.

Perhaps...but have you seen the ad? The jeans are identical, the guy walks like Frankenstein in them, and then the scene with his wife trying to pull them off...? I mean, come on. It's like the entire Kramer storyline from "The Wait Out" boiled down to 20 seconds with a product shot tacked on at the end.

Just another in the long line of pop culture rip offs by ad execs. There was one recently that used the phrase "Master of your domain."

And of course Jason A. resurrecting George C in his ad with Lee Iacoca. Pretty funny hearing Lee say "Yaddah Yaddah." But of course that was so obvious it was more of an homage.

There was a Pontiac commercial in Canada a few years ago. It showed a car driving into a drive-in-theatre and for a split second, on the marquee, Now Playing, was Rochelle Rochelle.

There's that, and the new "Oxygen" commercial, where two people are standing beside a dead body at the morgue and one of them wants an Oxygen. As she dispenses it from the roll, it flies up into the air and lands in the dead body (his mouth though), and he promptly wakes up. Reminded me of something...
