Inconsistentcy

Anyone catch last night's episode?

Kramer was looking at a girl from Jerry's window. He tells Jerry to come and look. Jerry says something about not looking from 10 floors up.

Isn't his apartment on the 5th floor?

It may be that Jerry was just exaggerating, but, if I'm not mistaken, this was from an early episode wasn't it? During the first season etc., Jerry's address had not been formally established. (129 West 81st Street, Apartment 5A). If you notice the outside of his apartment door in the early episodes, it does not even have an apartment designation. Through the course of the series, his apartment (scenery) changed and his address was eventually established on the show.

For the first three episodes, there was no number on Jerry's door. In the 4th episode, "Male Unbonding", Jerry's apartment number was 411. During most of the 2nd season, his apartment number was 3A, and from Season 3 on his apartment number was 5A. Nowhere was it implied that he was 10 floors up.

Maybe it was a mistake? Jerry was supposed to say 4th or 5th and said 10th?

Yes, I've noticed that, too. It's strange that the show would have such a blatant inconsistency so late in the show's run. At the ninth season, you'd think they would have established things by then!

Maybe the props guy was short ondoors, so Newman's door had to serve
double duty?

Wow, that's right. Good work on the chronology of the apartment number. There sure are a lot of knowledgeable SeinFans around. (I used to think I knew a lot about it....until I arrived at this ng! :) )
