Hi everyone. I just started reading this newsgroup and I was wondering if anyone knows if that restaurant that Jerry, George and Elaine usually eat in is an actual restaurant. I have seen one in Manhattan that looks exactly like it, about 2 blocks away from Columbia University.
PS Jerry was on Barbara Walters and he took her back to his house on Long Island where he grew up. He met the people that now live in it and then took Barbara to his new home in LA.
Yes, indeed! The exterior shots of the restaurant are of Tom's, which is at 112th and Broadway. It's typical of many coffee shops that can be found Manhattan. It's nothing special, although arguably it has character (and I believe it's open 24 hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday). Order a Broadway Shake!
Suzanne Vega's song "Tom's Diner" apparently also refers to the same place.
Why Tom's? Nobody knows...

The outside is Tom's Diner on Broadway around W. 111th Street give or take a block. The interior looks nothing like the set on the show.
