Autographed picture anxiety

In the Bubble Boy episode, Jerry writes a lame line on his autographed picture for the diner and wishes he could get it back. Does anyone know if this event is based on a real incident? If so, my money is on the photo at Tom's Restaurant, the place on 112th St. where the externals for Monk's are shot. He wrote, "Two Coffees!"
