Final episode...alternate script.

A while ago, just after it happened, I heard that there was an alternate ending planned for the final episode of Seinfeld shown several months ago. Is this true in any way.

     An alternate ending (with the Fab Four found innocent) was actually FILMED
at the time of the shooting of the final episode. The
audience, and the supporting characters, were not told which ending would
actually go on air. It's a good question who, other than the lead performers,
Larry David and MAYBE top brass at NBC, actually knew which ending would be
used. And no one's even saying when the decision was made which ending to use.
(They might have had it planned all along OR may not have decided for certain
which ending worked best, until they saw each one on film and evaluated it in
context of the rest of the show.)
     Somewhere this ending still exists on film. It not only has yet to be
shown...but may never air. That's up to Jerry, Larry David and the Castle Rock
folks. It might be interesting for them to throw the alternate ending on the
air when the finale rolls around in the rerun sequence this spring. But who
knows if it will?

Many television shows have done that very thing for either a finale episode or a cliffhanger. ("Cheers" did, for example.) That way, no one that works on the show can leak the ending to a newspaper or talk show, because they honestly don't know how it will turn out. The only people that really know are the 2 or 3 executives who make the final decision.
