Cops

"The Opera" has another scene featuring Jerry on the phone with the police. Once again he is told there is nothing they can do. Makes me wonder...did the cops EVER help anyone on the show? I can only think of the subway cop with the violin helping Kramer.

In The Robbery Jerry was told by the cop that the culprit probably would never be caught. In The Bottle Deposit the cops told Jerry that they could not help because he gave the keys to the mechanic who made off with Jerry's car but I question the legality of that statement. In an early ep of 92-93 a cop agreed to protect Jerry from Joe Davola but the cop took his sweet time finishing up at Monk's. Not to mention all the times the gang have been arrested.

The cops in LA did a pretty good job in tracking down the Smog Strangler. They got Kramer by mistake at first but they did correct that mistake. I know they had the real strangler in custody but let him get away. (Remember-Jerry & George really let Mr Nagy escape)

I can remember a scene early on where something has been stolen from Jerry and the cop is in his apartment and the conversation is something like: "We'll let you know if we find anything." "Do you ever find anything?" "No."

Jerry say's he doesn't like the idea of the thief returning his calls. Neither the cop nor Elaine "get" the joke.

You're mis-remembering the facts on that one. The joke about the thief returning his calls was also from The Robbery because his answering machine was stolen. How could someone return his calls from a car phone????

Caller ID and Voice Mail??? My cellphone records the numbers of the calls I make and those I receive. Just move down the list and click Dial...

Voicemail??? Records the calling number and press Dial returns it. I don't think it's anything new. Jerry also "could" have left a message, eh?? [have to do that so the Canadians understand the question, eh]
