One of the reasons that I find Seinfeld funnier and more creative than most other situation comedies (Friends not excepted) is that they, the cast, are all seasoned comedians and are funny in their own right. Michael Richards, JLDreyfus, Jerry and (I'm not sure of this) Jason Alexander were/are all comedians, and not simply cute people who deliver writer's funny lines. The show extends this talent even further by having comedian Jerry Stiller play George's father. I also have noticed for sometime the comedian Sandy Baron as Morry's vexing neighbor (I forget his name, Jack?). Anyway, I remember Sandy Baron as a regular on Ed Sullivan show, Merv Griffen and all the other talk shows of the time. He also appeared with a gang of other borschbelt comedians in Woody Allen's Broadway Danny Rose. He also appeared as Mathew Modine's father in Birdie with Nicholas Cage. It's good to see that Seinfeld both pay's tribute to his comic forbearers while improveing the quality of the show with such "Funny People" (title of Steve Allen book on comedy).

PS: ONe of my favorite episodes is the Bubble Boy, who's father is played by one of my favorites - Brian Doyle Murray, brother of Bill and alumnus of SNL's writing staff and, I believe, The National Lampoon.
