Shaking the juice??!!

What was that shaking the juice thing? Obviously about masturbation but, god, it was certainly one the weirdest moments on Seinfeld. Elaine's glance at Jerry seemed to say: what kind of a weirdo are you? Talk about malaise!

I thought it was funny at face value. "Shake well before using" is on lots of things. It's funny that Elaine decided to rebel and refuse to shake. Then of course she's indignant that the juice tastes bad.

What? I can't believe that one person made that connection, let alone two of you. I don't see that at all and I would be very surprised if it was designed that way. Like the other guy said it was just a funny Seinfeld moment.

As far as I can see there was no reference to masturbation but just a seinfeld insult on Elaine.

Jerry was being sarcastic about Laney's laziness by agreeing with her about how much work it was to shake the bottle. The thing about the bad taste when it isn't shaken is pretty funny, further "entitled" behavior.

I thought it looked like a masturbation pantomime, too - the angle she held the bottle, the wrist motion, and the fact that there are no accidents on TV sets. What I couldn't figure out is what it referred to. For those that taped it, was there anything earlier in the episode that might tie in?

I think you all are reading too much into it. She was just to lazy to shake up the juice! Unless someone who works on the show tells us differently. PONG

I agree with Jeff. Why is it that every thing done on Seinfeld has to mean something. Jerry was making fun of Elaine because she whinned that she was tired of shaking. As we all know, shaking a can of juice is no big deal, so Jerry was being sarcastic. I thought it was one of the funnier moments on Seinfeld because it was so simple and yet so funny.
