NEW YORK (AP) - Imagine Jerry Seinfeld inside his Long Island mansion, baby bottle in one hand, burp cloth in the other, musing: Whyyyyy do they call it a burp cloth?

That's right. First came love (1998), then came marriage (last December)- and now Seinfeld and bride, Jessica Sklar, will soon be pushing a baby carriage.

The big announcement was made Thursday by Seinfeld pal Regis Philbin on TV's ``Live With Regis and Kathie Lee.''

``Yes. It's true. There will be a new little Seinfeld sometime this fall,'' said Seinfeld's spokeswoman, Elizabeth Clarke.

It is the first child for both Sklar and Seinfeld, who made millions from a TV show that glorified single life and poked fun at commitment.

But that was then and this is now, and soon the 45-year-old Seinfeld will be up to his diaper bag in commitment.

Seinfeld apparently asked Philbin to serve up the news for him. Philbin did it gladly, informing viewers that the little Seinfeld is scheduled to arrive in October. Clarke did not want to pinpoint the due date.

The new arrival may have the undevoted attention of his dad, who retired his series in 1998.

Baby Seinfeld will also have plenty of room for all that kid stuff like swing sets, playhouses, bicycles and building blocks. The couple are reportedly paying as much as $40 million for Billy Joel's 12-acre oceanfront mansion in East Hampton/

And there are other kids in the neighborhood for playdates. Mike Tyson and Steven Spielberg, both with multiple offspring, live nearby.

Just asking: Could a minivan be far behind?

I know! I heard! Can you imagine the child growing up? That is one lucky baby!!! Let's see, if it's a girl: Little Lanie and a boy: Little Jerry! Haha!!!

Well, I guess they could name a baby boy Jerry, but then he'd share the same name with Kramer's rooster in the cockfighting episode -- remember "Little Jerry Seinfeld"? :)

...my wife has recently become pregnant and I was trying to find a wav file I can send to all my friends to give them the good news. The episode I'm looking for is from "The Fix Up", and it's where George borrows defective condoms from Kramer and then this girl he dates (first date) is late with her "cycle". When George finds out he jumps in the air and shouts "I did it! I did it! My boys can swim! My boys can swim!".

I'd love to be able to send the wav file with George talking about his swimming boys to my friends to tell them our news.

Any help would be appreciated!

Do you think Jerry shouted "My boys can swim!" when he found out his wife was pregnant.

If it's a boy, what about the bris? Who will be the mohel? Watch out for Shakey! Just kidding, everybody knows he probably won't be circuncised. Jerry wants his baby to have a great... face. :)

Will they name the baby after one of the show's characters? Wild guess: They name the kid Newman-- boy or girl! Maybe they will name it a common jewish name. What kind of father will Jerry be? Will he be more grown up or will Jerry's wife be the only grown up in the house? Will Jerry have an affair with Courteney Cox Arquette and when they get caught, tell his wife, "She is just my fake wife?" Will Jerry be a strict father or be like a brother to the kid? Will he push his kid to be a comic?

Most likely, the baby will be named after a recently deceased member of Jerry's family. That's generally how it works in the Jewish faith.
