If Jason Alexander doesn't win this year, then there is no question that the emmys are a joke. This man has never won, and it is a shame. When he was portraying George Costanza, he BECAME George Costanza. To me, his performances were some of the most memorable of the last decade.
Here's to seeing this extraordinary talent finally recognized...

It is a joke, all of those award shows are. It's whoever bribes the judges the most wins. If I were you all I wouldn't care 'cause an emmy is basically dog shiznit.
Michael Richards won last year... The two previos years before that went to Rip Torn and David Hyde Pierce. Richards won the two years prior to that as well. I hope Jason wins it this time

Although I think the last season was not their best, over the years, Jason Alexander has (along with the writers) crafted George Costanza into one of the deepest, most real, and above all, funniest characters in sitcom history. It speaks volumes about his value to the show when one realizes that there was never an episode of Seinfeld that did not feature George...and feature him prominently.

I agree with you complelty. He deserves it. He played one of the most memorable chracters in TV history, yet he gets no recognition. I always felt he was the best actor on Seinfeld (yes better than Michael) and I REALLY want him to win, but we all know who's going to win this year, Phil Hartman. But if he doesn't win, I bet whoever wins, will "give it" to Phil (if Jason wins maybe this is where he turns into george and decides to keep it). Who won the years that Michael Richards, David Hyde Pierce won and Jason lost ?

I agree - George is great. Also a great singer - I saw him on PBS one night with full orchestra. Lots of talent.
I will be surprised if he wins. Jason was most emmy-worthy in the Larry David prime years--around 92-93. George's lines were brilliantly written and Jason gave the words that exquisite neurotic spin that made George memorable. The last few years, without David, the George character has lost his wit, and too often has been reduced to silliness and screaming. I do know Emmys get awarded to an actor for his body of work--even when they didn't have a particularly great year. But Jason will have a hard time beating Phil Hartman for his many great years of unrewarded work as well. alt showbiz gossip
