Unsolved Mysteries. Well, two anyway...

So I have two things from Seinfeld eps that I have never been given an explanation for :

   a) "The Smelly Car".
         Just what the hell is that smell ? It can't be BO as is
         assumed in the beginning, Am I to believe that it is indeed
         a supernatural phenomenon ? Tell me !

   b) "The Pie"
         Why doesn't Jerry's girlfriend taste the apple pie ?
          I don't believe that she's too full either. There's more to
         that refusement... Maybe the chef at Monk's doesn't wash
         hands either and she saw it. Why ? Why ? You can understand
        why such a thing would prey on my mind !

         That's all. And you've probably already discussed these as
          well but I haven't and I can't sleep thinking about them.

Is it easier to believe that Susan Ross licked toxic posion and died? Or that a mechanic would fallin love with a car and stealit from it's owner? The fact is the smell in the car was caused by the valet at the resturant. That is how Seinfeld explained it. There was not any other cause for the smell offered or needed. Classic sitcom case of over exaggerating a situation for comic effect.

I totally agree. It is not meant to be understood. I think the same can be said for something I've seen debated here before - Kramer's income. I think it's supposed to be an inexplicable mystery. Any little bits and pieces he picks up over the course of the program do not really explain how he always has whatever money he needs but it's an essential part of his character that he never worries about cash. I think it's things like that (and the never-ending ludicrous coincidences) that make Seinfeld unique.

I think he had the money, he just thought Jerry should pay for it. Or he used a credit card.

That's what I always figured, I mean he was there because of Jerry, and he was penny pinching George, so he asked for a dollar from Jerry...he did, however have money anyway...

The one mystery, which has always bothered me the most is why Jerry's girlfriend, who dresses like a superhero always wears the same dress. They never explain it and it drove me nuts.
