Some commentary...

Actually, I agree with you. And I personally like the shows this season.

I think the reason is because the characters are developing more rather than involving situations. For example, George slowly turning into his father. In the Pig-man episode where he's in the hospital admiring his parking spot while everyone else is admiring the baby cracked me up. Remember last year when George talked about how important the 'good parking spot' was to his father?

Another point of mention is, since last year was concerned with the development of the pilot, then this year should be a continuation of that theme and the way Jerry's life has changed since the show took off.

     But remember in the finale last season, the show *didn't* take off.
     In fact it was pulled minutes after the pilot aired.

     I know that doesn't rule out the possibility, but it seemed to me that
     just said "We don't need the show 'Seinfeld' to be a 100% accurate
     biography of Jerry Seinfeld, especially since our best episodes have
     been based on the sort of things that happen to everyday people as
     opposed to TV celebs.  Otherwise we have another version of 'The Jackie
     Thomas Show'."

(golly, was that the right name? It's been so long...)

     (point is I think the TV character Jerry Seinfeld is not going to be
     written as a TV actor himself; that would make the show a lot more
     complicated and lose some of its comedic impact, which it derives from
     the audience's ability to relate to the situations.)
