I haven't seen anyone else post it yet, so maybe I'll be the first: This week's TV Guide (U.S.) had an article on the ten most powerful people in television, and JS was right up there with Oprah Winfrey, Tim Allen, and Angela Lansbury (a dubious honor, some might say). Anyway, after reading so many threads about what an a**hole he is, I was suprised to see a couple of paragraphs about how *great* he actually is. (Would TVG lie?) I'll steal it from my mother when I see her tomorrow night, and post it 3/22 if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Be careful not to get gyro sauce on it or give it to a crazed subway admirer!

I haven't seen it posted by anyone else, so here goes: Short, short article on Jerry Seinfeld as one of TV's most powerful people, as written in TV Guide for the week of March 18-24.

"Advertisers love Seinfeld's baby-boomer fans--all 30 million of 'em. NBC can charge more--$390,000--for a 30-second ad on Seinfeld than on any other show. With one season to go on his contract, Seinfeld is clearly in the catbird seat. His own percentage of the estimated $200 million to $300 million in syndication fees is rumored to be larger than Tim Allen's. Plus, he's a sweetheart to work with. 'He doesn't whine. He doesn't sling his weight around,' says a close associate. Other than a fondness for Porsches, he has no interest in the 'trappings of success--the star junk,' says the associate. What next? After editing Seinfeld episodes for syndication (they have to be cut by as much as 60 seconds) and possibly doing a lucrative comedy road show, he could always write another book. The last one sold more than a million copies."

Any typos, misspellings, etc. are purely mine own.
