My guess is that the guy in the picture is her dearly-beloved dead husband and the dress represents a particularly happy event in their lives. Now she's a widow and is just beginning to get back into her life. Jerry is her first attempt...maybe the "lucky" dress will mean the start of a good relationship like she had with dear departed hubby. She will wear it on every date until she's sure. Or not.
