Seinfeld will continue for one more season with the cast returning but Larry David departing.
Fans discuss rumors that Seinfeld will end after the current season, with replies confirming the cast agreed to one more year but Larry David will not return as showrunner.
I have been told that at the end of this season that Seinfeld will be taken off the air, that is that there will be no new episodes made.
This is frightening and shocking news to me because I thought that Seinfeld was in the Top 10 shows regularly week in and week out.

Oh, my. First, just because a show is in the Top 10 "week in and week out" does NOT mean it will go on into perpetuity. Witness "Cheers"; the decision is generally made by the PRODUCERS, not the network, when a successful show goes off the air-- the exhaustion of creative juices generally being the most cited culprit, although skyrocketing salaries/licensing fees often also play a part.
However, not to worry; after some angsting whether or not to come back, Mr. Seinfeld says he WILL come back for another (probably final) season next year. His co-creator, Larry David, did say he has had enough and won't be involved in next year's season.
After that, the buzz is that Elaine gets a spinoff.

I think it's much more probable that the show-ending situation is a George and Susan finally having their wedding and then the two of THEM beginning a spin off, with occasional guest appearances by old Seinfeld members. They'd probably have to have the newly-weds move to another city, though.

Guys.. Even tho Seinfeld may be or may be not going off the air, remember this.. Gary Larson retired.... Treudeau took a break.... nothing is forever....
I love Seinfeld as much as the next guy (If not more) and I dont often get to see it due to work....
but it will live on in reruns in syndication...
There's nothing worse than a great show that rund too damn long. I mean, lookit M*A*S*H...that shit the bed before they cancelled it....
just be happy we have the episodes that are out there, and dammit, i STILL haven't seen the "Master of His Domain" yet...

M*A*S*H was never cancelled. The cast voted (not unanimous as I recall) to end the show after 17? 19? seasons. I suspect Seinfeld will end the same way, but far, far sooner. Probably we will get one last season.

Who is Larry David?
Larry David is the co-creator of the Seinfeld show, the real life show about nothing. He is the creative genius behind the show, as well as its executive producer. Also, many of the bizarre experiences you see on the show are actual anecdotes from LD's life.
Larry David is also the model for the George Costanza character. Though on the surface there are differences, they are unmistakeably intertwined.
He has done some cameos on the show, including the newsstand owner at the end of "The Gum", who says "sorry your majesty...." He is also the voice of George STeinbrenner, and Frank Costanza's lawyer.
