Question for UK people

Hey all you people that watch TV over there in the UK, I was wondering if all the expletives that Jerry and others use in the episode "The Non-Fat Yogurt" are even bleeped out like they are over here in the US?

Yeah they are. But when Jerry says "Let's watch 'em slice this fat bastard up" (The Junior Mint) - the line was cut out originally on the Paramount Comedy Channel. It's been restored since, but "bastard" has been 'silenced' out. The BBC always shows the full episodes.

Probably because they screen them very late at night. Paramount's showings are around 7.30pm or 8pm, before the 9pm "watershed". I think we're much less worried here about language on TV than you guys across the water. The F-word is pretty much a staple in movies and drama on TV.

Yeah, I know that The Osbournes is uncensored over there in the UK, which I found appalling when I first heard, because there are like 80-90 F-words per episode of that show! I don't understand why they would then censor a few profanities in a Seinfeld episode.

As I say, purely and simply because of the time of TX. BBC before 9pm = bleeped; after 9pm = no restriction. Paramount Comedy Channel (Prop: Americans) = scared of their own shadow, so bleeped or silenced into oblivion! ;-)

And what would the Osbournes be without the swearing? Just a load of dysfunctionals talking shit. ;-))))))))))

Are you sure about this? The phrase "magnificent bastard" crops up several times in my Seinfeld eps - all taped from Paramount. And there's an ep with George and some Texan visitors which is riddled with usages of "bastard". And there's the ep where Jean-Paul (the marathon runner) calls the neighbours baby a "bastard". And I do have the "slice this fat bastard" line taped from Paramount as well.

It depends on when you taped them. Seinfeld is thrown around the schedules a fair bit. In the past six months, it's been on at 5:30, 6:00, 7:00, 7:30 and it's currently on at 8:00. The late-night repeats (currently 12:40am) *seem* to be uncut.

Which must be when Tod taped them. The Texan visitors piece was totally ruined by the exclusion of the word "bastard" when I saw it.

Yes it would have been late - I have cable, not digital so there was a long time they were only running late at night. I know the "Non-fat Yogurt" is always bleeped - I assume that it was always intended to be broadcast that way - that it's the creators and not the broadcasters who bleeped it.
