I think Susan's father using the pistol might have been one of the other endings that were shot.

I liked the finale but I was hoping for more.

Yes I did wonder about why they would go through all the trouble of showing him buying a gun. I thought the finale episode was rather fitting - they got what they deserved for dumping on all those people over the years. But I found it strange that they didn't have Amanda Chang on the show. The part with him and the gun was very Twin Peakish if you ask me (Grace Zabriski (sp?) was in Twin Peaks BTW)

The actor who plays Susan's father was also on Twin Peaks. He was Donna's father. Grace Zabriskie was Laura's mother.

I'm guessing this was one of the alternate endings they made up to confuse potential leakers -- the jury acquits them, so Susan's dad blows George away. I was also half-expecting the Jerry-saves-Newman-from-choking ending, probably from watching too many other sitcoms.
