Question

Fans discuss the rules and techniques of Jerry's signature sexual move from the episode, including requirements like a headboard, height differential, and the proper clockwise swirl technique.

We know the following about Jerry's "move":

(1) You need a headboard on the bed; (2) There shouldn't be more than one inch differential in the couple's heights; (3) Make sure you close with the swirl (no premature swirl, as George found out); (4) Jerry prefers the clockwise swirl (as opposed to the counter clockwise swirl); (5) The copycat used the pinch at the end instead of the swirl.

I am afraid to ask if we know what "the move" and "the swirl" are? Anything like the "venus butterfly" from LA Law? (No details please) Elaine: "I don't know how you guys walk around with those things"

I think you mean 'a one FOOT differential'.

And don't forget: No knuckles!

I can't afford to go to Europe so, since the earth rotates
every 24 hours, why couldn't I shoot straight up and hover
in some kind of contraption and let Europe come to me?

That's exactly what an airplane does, if you change your point of reference. Unfortunately you don't get a discount for seeing things that way.

I believe he said "inch" -- I was taking notes as I transferred the episode onto a permanent tape. But I will go back and replay it to make sure.

Definitely no knuckles in Jerry's move --the knuckles were part of George's move and they weren't too well received (so to speak).

You are absolutely right!

I just replayed that part of the tape. Jerry said no more than one foot differential. (I originally wrote down inch.)

I thought it was "the twist" not "the pinch"? Pinching sounds painful.

And yes, I believe it's a variation of the "venus butterfly" but don't ask me why headboards, etc are required cause I haven't the foggiest.

Would someone mind filling me in on what the venus butterfly is all about?

I always assumed that it was left to our imagination -- which is what I assumed about Jerry's move too.

The Venus Butterfly was never explained on L.A. Law, but I read a description of it in Playboy years ago when L.A. Law was still huge. I won't post it here as it is quite graphic, but if anyone would like to hear the version that I read email me and I'll send it to you.

The "Venus Butterfly" is some made-up sexual move that was on "L.A. Law"--people wrote in to the show and asked what it was, since it seemed to have such an effect on women on the show. From what I remember, the writers said that they just made up the name and the whole idea themselves. Erik Saran

I really hope there can be no more than a one "foot" differential because I'm 6'6" and if an inch is correct I'll never get this darn move to work.
