Letterman schtik

It wasn't bad. It was great to see him, even though he did look a little older, don't we all?

The 'doing nothing' bit was great. Seinfeld does know how to turn a phrase, that's for sure. His bit on the Subway guy was a bit hacky because the guy actually DID lose weight with the low-fat sandwiches, not the triple-fat meatball hoagies, but that didn't mean the jokes weren't funny!

I was wondering how much annoying kid stuff he would do, but when you're a comedian, you've got to pull on life experiences, and having a child certainly rates right up there. His kid stuff was good. He must know that comedians go to that well too often.

Hmm, I like his haircut. It wasn't the bushy style he had during the series, since men are generally wearing their hair shorter than back in the 80's/early 90's.

? He often wears nice suits (with suitable dress shoes) for talk show appearances. In fact, I can't remember the last team he wore sneakers to an interview.

My only criticism of his stand-up is that it didn't seem as polished or "fast" as his older material. Some bits dragged quite a bit, stretching out a good joke way too long.

Still, I think it's important to remember that his new material simply *couldn't*t be as solid in these early appearances as his old material was after a decade or more of performing it. Seinfeld's a real workaholic when it comes to stand-up, and I imagine it will take some time to perfect the new stuff, work on timing, see what gets a good response, etc.

His baby is cute. I know that he is a proud parent but I really hate *gushy* obnoxious parents who act like they are the only people in the world to have kids and aren't their kid amazing/great? :-p How many times was he going to say *have a baby*. I liked that Dave didn't really want to go there. I couldn't have standed it if he had.

And what's with plugging the time change for his reruns? He is just sitting back on his laurels collecting those syndication checks and laughing all the way to the bank.

Just a little hijack, but do you really, actually believe that Jared lost all that weight simply by eating low-fat Subway sandwiches? He must have incorporated some kind of exercise routine besides just walking. And I find it hard to believe that all he ate was low-fat Subway sandwiches. I mean, where's the balance? In the course of a year, he would have suffered malnutrition. And furthermore, if you limit yourself to 1000 calories a day, you'll lose some weight, regardless of where those 1000 calories are coming from. Anyway, you'd have to be an idiot to believe the entire Jared "story."

Maybe. He chose low-fat subs with lots of fresh veggies--few calories, but still fairly nutritional. And for someone that obese, I imagine his walking was enough exercise to burn off a lot of calories.

Also, I imagine he ate other food at times. While they mention the specifics of his "Subway diet", they don't claim he never deviated from it, nor do they mention other food (e.g. maybe he had fresh fruit and skim milk for breakfast--a meal not mentioned in the Subway ads).

Don't get me wrong--I'm not supporting the "Subway Diet". But it *is* far more balanced and logical than many of the fad diets out there. I firmly believe the best weight-loss plan is a combination of regular exercise plus balanced healthy meals based on the recommendations of the "food pyramid" (four food groups in specified amounts). While the Subway Diet certainly isn't perfect, it's not too far off the mark.

What the...? Okay, change that to "nutritious".

I don't think Jerry was trying to be mean, just poking fun at the obvious obsurdity of what he did. Do you think Chinese people are happy with his joke about chopsticks and pool cues. Typical Jerry if you ask me!
